Lucy Simon Lucy Simon (born 1943) is an American composer for the theatre and popular songs. She has recorded and performed as a singer and songwriter, and is known for the musicals ''The Secret Garden'' and ''Doctor Zhivago'' . ==Early life and education== Simon was born in New York City, the daughter of the co-founder of the book publisher Simon & Schuster, Inc., Richard L. Simon and Andrea (Heinemann) Simon, a former switchboard operator, civil rights activist, and singer.
